Mazda Motor introduced the updated Mazda6 family and released a special edition of the model dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the release of the first generation of the "six".
During the modernization, the Skyactiv-D 2.2 turbodiesel was improved - due to the new engine control unit software, the engine power was increased by 10 hp. - up to 200 hp, and the torque at 4000 rpm is increased by 25 Nm. Thus, the lack of Skyactiv-D 2.2 - the drop in torque in the upper rev range - has been eliminated.
The accelerator pedal has also been reconfigured - it has become more distinct. The power steering has been changed - the sharpness of the steering has increased.
The driver assistance complex has added functions for automatic movement in traffic jams and on highways. The Mazda6 comes with wireless charging for smartphones. Added new body colors - Rhodium White Premium Metallic (pearl white metallic) and Platinum Quartz Metallic (light golden metallic). In the expensive configuration L for the Japanese market, the seats began to be trimmed with nappa leather.
As for the special equipment Mazda6 20th Anniversary Edition, it is based on the XD L variant and has additional styling features. In particular, the grid of the grille is made of silver, 19-inch wheels have a mirror finish, nameplates with the name of the performance are used on the front fenders. Inside, the front seat headrests are embossed with 20th Anniversary lettering.
The special version of the Mazda6 uses a new Artisan Red Premium Metallic layered red color with an especially deep effect.
Prices for the updated Mazda6 in Japan range from 2,962,300 to 4,739,900 yen. The start of sales is scheduled for spring 2023.
