The appearance of the eight-seat frame SUV Land Rover Defender 130, which is being prepared for launch in the middle of the year, has actually been revealed: its final design has been patented in the United States. Judging by the images, the Defender 130 will be just an extended version of the Defender 110.
Recall that the names Defender 90, 110 and 130 are a reference to the first generation of Defender (appeared in 1983, then the cars were called Land Rover 90 and Land Rover 110), the number indicates the wheelbase in inches. Now this is just a tribute to the past, because the distance between the axles in the Defender 90 of the current generation L663 (produced since 2019) is 101.9 inches and 119 inches in the Defender 110. That is, the new models have noticeably outgrown their ancestors, although they retained their former names.
Body length Defender 130 will be 5.1 meters. This is 34 cm more than the Defender 110 (4.75 meters without the "reserve"). Apparently, the increase will be achieved only due to the elongated rear, and the wheelbase of the 130th will repeat the 110th.
It is assumed that the motor line will remain unchanged in comparison with the current versions of the Defender. One of the pre-production prototypes seen in 2021 was powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six petrol engine. This ICE corresponds to the P400 MHEV model (400 hp and 550 Nm).
In March 2021, Jaguar Land Rover CFO Adrian Mardell stated that the Defender 130 will go on sale within the next 18 months. If his words are correct, then the model will be presented approximately in August.
