The British Ineos Automotive brought to road tests a prototype of the second version of the Grenadier 4x4 frame SUV - a truck chassis with a two-row four-door five-seater cab. This option will become the basis for a pickup truck and cars with cargo superstructures. Earlier, we recall, the Grenadier 4x4 was presented in the form of a cargo-and-passenger station wagon, the pickup truck was only briefly shown in the background of one of the presentation photos.
Technically, the new modifications are unlikely to differ from the base Grenadier SUV. The latter is planned to be equipped with purchased engines - 6-cylinder petrol and diesel 3.0-liter “rowers” from BMW. They will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The Grenadier station wagon is planned to be produced at the plant in Ambach, France from mid-2022, with a pickup truck to join it later. This enterprise was purchased from Daimler AG - it used to make Smart minicars. Ineos refused to build a car factory from scratch in Wales.
Grenadier 4x4 is called the ideological successor of the classic Land Rover Defender, discontinued in 2016. At the same time, Ineos Automotive is in no way connected with Jaguar Land Rover - it is owned by the British chemical giant Ineos.
