Second generation Range Rover Evoque shown in London

Land Rover

The pioneer of the compact premium SUV class and winner of 217 design and technology awards is now in its second generation. Externally, the Range Rover Evoque remained in the same, but somewhat softened style, and received many new technological solutions: a redesigned chassis, power plants and electronic driver assistance systems.

The car is built on a new modular platform Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA). It also created Land Rover Discovery Sport and Jaguar E-Pace. The new Evoque has not changed much in size: it has become only 1 mm longer (4371 mm), 4 mm wider (1904 mm), 14 mm taller (1649 mm). The wheelbase has increased by 21 mm (2681 mm). The new platform and extended base made the interior a little more spacious and increased the luggage compartment by 10% to 591 liters (1383 liters with the second row of seats lowered).

Off-road performance remained virtually unchanged. The geometry has changed somewhat: the ground clearance is 212 mm, the approach angle remains the same - 25º, the exit has decreased from 33º to 30.6º, but the fording depth has increased from 500 to 600 mm. The all-wheel drive system has six driving modes: General (general), Eco (economical), Sand (for sandy surfaces), Grass-Gravel-Snow (grass-stones-snow), Mud-Ruts (mud), Auto (auto-tuning for current road conditions).

The body rigidity of the new Ewok has been increased by 13%. McPherson Hydrobush front suspension and Integral Link rear suspension improve comfort and control while reducing vibration. 17-inch wheels remained basic, but 21s can also be installed.

Among the electronic driver assistance systems, the Range Rover Evoque has:

Hill Descent Control - a system of controlled movement downhill;
Gradient Release Control - smooth start on an inclined surface;
All-Terrain Progress Control - cruise control at low speeds when driving on various types of surface;
ClearSight Ground View - transparent hood technology;
Clearsight - high-definition video screen for a full view from the driver's seat through the rear-view mirror;
multimedia system Touch Pro Duo, including a 10-inch high-resolution touch screen;
12.3-inch instrument cluster and full color head-up display with smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
And for the first time, technology with the beginnings of artificial intelligence Smart Settings is presented, which, after several trips of the car, remembers the preferred temperature settings, multimedia and the most frequently dialed numbers from the phone book depending on the time of the day and week, sets them itself when the driver approaches the car and even remembers What type of massage do passengers prefer?

The previous Range Rover Evoque has sold 772,096 units worldwide since 2011.
