On the SUV Grenadier began to take orders

Land Rover

British Ineos Automotive has begun accepting online pre-orders for the Grenadier 4x4 frame utility SUV, which is called the ideological successor to the classic Land Rover Defender. From October 14, the company will start accepting full-fledged orders.

According to the company's press service, about 75,000 people have booked the Grenadier 4x4 at present. In England, which is native to the brand, the base price of the car is 48,000 pounds, in the main European market - in Germany - 59,000 euros.

The Grenadier has a five-door estate body with a simple angular design, flat panels and glass, and round headlights. Grenadier is now offered in passenger and cargo versions. In the second case, the cabin is double, and in the luggage compartment there are plugs instead of windows. Later, a pickup truck with a two-row cab will also appear.

The off-road vehicle is going to be equipped with purchased engines - 6-cylinder petrol and diesel 3.0-liter row cars from BMW. They will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The chassis is made according to the most classic off-road canons - there are continuous bridges, which means dependent suspensions. Springs are applied all around. The drive is complete.

Serial production of Grenadiers will be organized at the former Smart factory in Ambach (France). Shipments to the first buyers are scheduled for July 2022.

Now booking a car is open to residents of 36 countries, including the USA, Germany, Britain, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, UAE, but Russia is not on the list. Ineos Automotive said it has already built a sales network of 200 car dealerships around the world to sell its vehicles. The company also expects to attract existing BMW dealers, who should be interested in the Grenadier because of its aggregate relationship with the Bavarian cars.

Recall that the project of the new car is fully financed by the chemical company Ineos, the initiator of the Grenadier is its owner, Sir Jim Ratcliff (Jim Ratcliff). Ineos has nothing to do with Jaguar Land Rover.
