Jaguar Land Rover unveils Range Rover Velar and new Ingenium 2.0T engine

Land Rover

At the end of July, Jaguar Land Rover introduced a new 2.0-liter Ingenium four-cylinder gasoline engine with two power options - 250 hp. and 300 hp Range Rover Velar and the F-Type sports coupe were among the first to receive this engine.

The new engine features an integrated exhaust manifold, 200 bar direct fuel injection and a twin-scroll supercharger. The electro-hydraulic intake shaft control system allows you to control the valves directly, rather than the throttle valve, which reduces pumping losses and provides precise control of air intake into the combustion chamber. This increases power and torque, while also reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The P250 engine is currently installed only on Velar. The motor allows the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 6.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is 7.6 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions are 173 g/km.

The P300 engine powers both the Range Rover Velar and the updated Jaguar F-Type. The Velar accelerates in 6 seconds to 100 km / h, while the F-Type has 5.7 seconds. Ingenium P300 has the highest power density in the entire model line.

The updated Jaguar F-Type also received new bumpers and full LED head optics, as well as a modified exhaust system with only one tailpipe. Updates also touched on interior details, new seats and the Touch Pro multimedia system.

Velar buyers will be able to choose from six engines – three each diesel and three petrol. The diesel list includes two two-liter four-cylinder options with 180 and 240 hp. and a 3.0-liter V6 with 300 hp. with acceleration from 0-100 km / h, respectively, 8.9, 7.3 and 6.5 seconds.

As for gasoline engines, there are also two configurations - a 2.0-liter turbo (four cylinders, 250 and 300 hp), which we have already talked about, and a 3.0-liter V6 (380 hp). The latter accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.

The Range Rover Velar is equipped with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with paddle shifters. All transmissions received individual settings depending on the type of engine.

The name Velar comes from the English verb veil - to hide, hide, mask, veil. It was invented more than 40 years ago - under this name in the 1970s, the very first Range Rover cars were road tested. For greater secrecy, all pre-production models were decorated with the letters V E L A R on the leading edge of the hood.

The RR Velar is a full-fledged SUV with plug-in all-wheel drive, an optional rear differential lock, the ability to switch road modes, air suspension, an impressive ground clearance (251 mm with "pneuma" and 213 without it) and a maximum ford depth of 650 mm. Short front and rear overhangs allow it to overcome large angles of inclination.

In terms of its dimensions, the Range Rover Velar car is quite compact. Despite the fact that it is about 45 centimeters longer than the Evoque in length, the width and height differ slightly from the Evoque (4803x2032x1665 versus 4355x1985x1605). It is about 5 cm shorter than the Range Rover Sport and 20 cm shorter than the classic Range Rover, while also falling short in other dimensions.

Interestingly, in addition to leather upholstery, the British offer fabric trim from Kvadrat designer textile material.

The Touch Pro Duo multimedia system has two monitors at once, located one below the other on the center console and creating the impression of a single MM space. The top monitor (12.3 inches) has the ability to adjust the angle and is used to control navigation and multimedia. The lower one is equipped with touch buttons for controlling the climate, music, comfort and technical functions of the car - from setting the clearance and connecting the necessary driver assistants to selecting the driving mode to the Terrain Response system menu.

Multi-function relay switches are integrated into the glass screen to control various vehicle functions, from climate to driving mode. The steering wheel is also equipped with touch buttons.

Velar received automatic handles that “leave” the niche in the door when the locks are opened and return back when closed. The British insist that they have solved all major engineering problems, including the freezing of handles, by conducting appropriate tests at temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius.
