Founded by rally driver Amadeus Matzker, the German company Matzker has been in the automotive industry for over 30 years. Despite the fact that its founder died three years ago in the dunes of Mauritania, she continues to work - she creates campervans based on various cars. Land Rover Defender was discontinued in 2016, but it was on its basis that Matzker created a new camper, because the Defender continues to be in high demand in the secondary market - the car is famous for its durability and reliability.
The new “mobile home” was called MDX, and the company is ready to sell its creation not only on a turnkey basis, but also in the form of assembly kits. As for the finished “product”, the car is equipped with a soaring roof, on which a solar battery is installed, a stove with two gas burners, a double bed, and a toilet.
Despite the fact that the car is a real campervan, it has all the attributes of an SUV: a winch is mounted in the front bumper, and the air filter pipes are installed as high as possible - this will allow the camper to overcome very deep fords without fear of water hammer.
As for the power plant, its role is played by a 2.2-liter Ford Duratorq turbodiesel unit, the power of which was increased by German specialists to 197 hp.
No pricing has yet been announced, but a similar Mercedes-Benz X-Class-based Matzker campervan is valued at $102,000.
