Lamborghini will launch a monocup on Urus crossovers

Lamborghini

Lamborghini has introduced the Urus crossover in a professional motorsport version. The new modification was developed by the Squadra Corse studio, the sports department of the Italian company. The redesigned Urus is called the ST-X Concept. The car was created for the future monocup on such crossovers - it will begin to be held in 2020.

Compared to the standard version of the crossover, the curb weight of the ST-X Concept is reduced by 25%. Weight reduction was achieved by removing various "consumer" systems that are optional for a sports prototype and using parts made of lightweight materials. For example, the ST-X Concept has a carbon fiber hood.

The crossover was also equipped with a roll cage welded from steel pipes, an automatic fire extinguishing system and an FT3 sports gas tank. All new parts comply with the technical regulations of the international motorsport federation FIA.

The engine of the racing crossover does not differ from the production car - it is a 4.0-liter gasoline V8 (power - 650 hp, torque - 850 Nm). Dynamic characteristics are not reported, but due to weight reduction, they should have become higher. The stock Urus accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 305 km/h.

The Urus Monocup stages will be held on racing tracks in Europe and the Middle East.

Urus is produced at the main Lamborghini plant in Sant'Agata Bolognese (Italy).
