Lamborghini does not want to part with the internal combustion engine after 2030

Lamborghini

Part of the Volkswagen Group, Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini S.p.A. would not like to abandon internal combustion engines in the medium term, such a conclusion follows from an interview with the company's CEO Stefan Winkelmann to the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

“After switching to hybrid powertrains, we will see if it is possible to offer vehicles with internal combustion engines after 2030. One of the [hypothetical] options to keep ICE cars in the range is to use synthetic fuels for them, ”said Winkelmann.

Winkelmann revealed late last month that Lamborghini plans to launch its first all-electric model at the end of this decade.

For Lamborghini, as well as for its key competitors Ferrari, Aston Martin Lagonda and McLaren, the transition to electric installations is a dramatic story, because heavy batteries inevitably lose the dynamic performance and handling of supercars, which will negatively affect the image. In addition, for these companies, the rejection of highly accelerated hand-built internal combustion engines in many ways means the loss of charm of manufacturers of unique cars.
