Volkswagen's Italian supercar and SUV manufacturer Lamborghini S.p.A. held the world premiere of a new model - a two-seat mid-engined coupe Revuelto. This car was created from scratch and will take the place of the Lamborghini Aventador, produced in 2011-2022, in the product range.
The design of the model is based on a monocoque made of carbon fiber, which weighs only 188 kg, which is 10% less than the Aventador. At the same time, the design has a 25% greater torsional rigidity. For the first time in practice, the front part module was also made of carbon fiber, or more precisely, of the so-called forged carbon. The rear subframe is made of aluminum, as was the predecessor.
Regarding the Aventador, the rear suspension scheme has been conceptually changed - instead of a purely racing push-rod, a new multi-link design is used, which is more suitable for car operation on public roads.
The unusual appearance of the car was developed by a team led by the company's chief designer Mitya Borkert (don't be surprised by the Slavic name, he was born in the GDR). On the outside, Revuelto aimed to give it a "spaceship" look, says senior exterior designer Nelson Simoes. There are even more sharp edges and triangular motifs than there were in Aventador. The light marker in the form of the letters Y rotated by 90 degrees in the headlights and lanterns also attracts attention.
At the rear, an active spoiler on servos and - below - a massive diffuser are used.
Aventador buyers often complained about the tightness in the cabin, the Italians listened and made the new model more spacious. The increase in the distance above the head is +26 mm, in the legs - +84 mm. Thus, even people taller than 1.85 m can comfortably accommodate in the Revuelto.
The vehicle is powered by a hybrid system made up of a 6.5-liter V12 petrol, two electric motors, an 8-speed e-DCT dual clutch transmission and a lithium-ion battery.
The internal combustion engine has power and torque - 825 hp. and 725 Nm, respectively. It is noted that this is the lightest V12 in the history of Lamborghini - it weighs 218 kg, 17 kg less than the Aventador engine, while its return is higher.
Each of the electric motors develops 110 kW (150 hp). The total power of the system is 1015 hp. Compared to the Aventador Ultimae, the increase was 30%, while thanks to the hybrid design, the level of emissions of harmful substances was also reduced by 30%.
Interestingly, the internal combustion engine is installed longitudinally, and the gearbox is transverse. The same layout was previously used by Lamborghini on the Essenza SCV12 track supercar (2020).
Electric motors are arranged on the front axle, one per wheel. The e-DCT unit weighs 193 kg and includes a third electric motor that works as a starter-generator (adds power when needed). The lithium-ion battery is mounted in the central tunnel between the seats and has a capacity of 3.8 kWh, it can be recharged from an external network.
The Revuelto has four main preset driving modes (Città, Strada, Sport and Corsa) and three hybrid ones, for a total of 13 different combinations. There is even the possibility of driving on pure electric traction - relevant for park areas and metropolitan centers.
The maximum speed of the car is “more than 350 km / h”, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds.
In addition, the Revuelto has a fully controlled chassis, the rear wheels can steer at an angle of up to three degrees.
In the European Union, the novelty is offered at a price of 500 thousand euros, the company says that they received orders for two years in advance. Shipment to the first customers is scheduled for the end of 2023.
