In terms of powertrain technology, Lamborghini is a conservative company: it still uses only naturally aspirated V10 and V12 gasoline engines (the Urus is an exception, but can it be called a full-fledged Lambo?). No turbocharging, let alone hybrid additives. However, constantly tightening environmental requirements still forced the company from Sant'Agata Bolognese to switch to the production of "soft" hybrids. The Lamborghini Sian coupe was the first to use this technology.
The name of the novelty is translated from the Bolognese dialect as "flash" or "lightning". This is a nod to the fact that Sian is the first car in the history of the Italian brand, which also uses electricity for movement.
As is often the case with these Lambo projects, the Sian is not a completely independent model: it is built on the basis of the Aventador. It uses the same carbon-fiber monocoque and power unit, but outwardly the car has changed significantly. The designers kept the general proportions of the body, but used new body panels, optics and glass.
Behind the passenger compartment is still a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. It develops 785 hp. at 8500 rpm, which is a record value in the history of Lambo. Another 34 "horses" adds an electric motor. In total, the power of the hybrid drive reaches 819 hp. Through greater use of lightweight materials, Sian overtook the Aventador SVJ in terms of power to weight ratio.
It takes 2.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. The maximum speed exceeds 350 km/h. Lamborghini Sian supports regenerative braking. The energy accumulated in this case is used during acceleration up to 80 km / h.
The number 63 is marked on the back of the body: that is how many copies of the Lamborghini Sian will be released. Thus, the brand recalls the year of its foundation (1963). Given the limited edition, the cost of the novelty will certainly be fabulous.
