Kia

The second-generation Kia Niro compact crossover has been mass-produced since the beginning of 2022, and is currently only sold in South Korea and exclusively in the “parallel hybrid” version. However, on the approach of performance "rechargeable hybrid" (PHEV) and "pure electric vehicle" (EV) - on April 4, Kia distributed their technical specifications.

The PHEV version has the same 1.6-litre petrol engine as the standard hybrid, but is powered by a 62 kW/84 hp electric motor in the plug-in version. (instead of 32 kW/44 hp). The total output of the PHEV system is 180 hp, the capacity of the traction battery is 11.1 kWh, it can be recharged by the internal combustion engine or from an external network. On pure electric traction, the car can travel up to 65 km. The gearbox is preselective, robotic, 6-speed, and there is no reverse gear in it - it is provided exclusively by an electric motor. This solution saved 2.3 kg of weight.

The Niro EV has an electric motor with 148 kW (201 hp) and 255 Nm of torque. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 64.8 kWh, the power reserve on a single charge reaches 463 km. From the fast charging station, the energy level from 10 to 80% can be replenished in 43 minutes. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h in Niro EV takes only 7.8 seconds, top speed is limited to 167 km / h. It is possible to power external devices with a power of up to 3 kW from the car batteries. The Niro EV has two trunks: the front is 20 liters, the rear is 475 liters.

The new Kia Niro will enter the EU market within a couple of months.
