The current Kia Optima has not been produced for so long - since 2015. Despite this, the Koreans have already prepared the next generation sedan. At the end of October, the manufacturer published teasers of the novelty, and now the first spy photos have appeared.
Apparently, the pictures were taken by a random witness, so they do not shine with quality. But they make it clear that the darkened renderings turned out to be close to the truth: the sedan has really changed noticeably.
The car was spotted during a corporate photo shoot. All photos show the Optima only from the back or side. Fortunately, another shot from China allows us to look at the sedan from the front.
The Optima should have a new turbocharged 2.5-liter engine of the Theta III generation, which will work with an 8-speed “robot”. There is no information about its characteristics yet. For South Korea and some other markets, the 180-horsepower 1.6-liter G4FJ engine, combined with an 8-speed automatic, will probably be retained.
It is expected that Kia K5, that is, Optima for the South Korean market, will be presented in December.
