Kia reveals second-generation Niro with recycled wallpaper and eucalyptus trim

Kia

Kia has unveiled the second-generation Niro compact crossover. Its presentation took place on November 25 at the auto show in Seoul.

The Korean automaker designed the Niro with the Opposites United philosophy. When selecting shapes, colors and finishing materials, the authors focused on natural motifs.

On the exterior, the new Niro largely inherited the look of the Habaniro concept, presented in April 2019: angular running lights, embossed hood, red rear roof pillars, large rims. The design of the vertical taillights is designed to emphasize aerodynamics and manufacturability.

The interior uses a two-spoke steering wheel, and the digital instrument panel and the touch screen of the media system are covered with a single glass. The transmission mode selector is made in the form of a rotating washer. Interior lighting is included.

A separate emphasis is placed on environmental friendliness: the headlining is made from recycled wallpaper, and eucalyptus leaves have been used in the seats. The door panels use paint that is free of benzene, toluene and xylene isomers to minimize environmental impact and reduce waste.

While Kia does not publish full specifications. It is only known that the new Niro will be produced both as a regular hybrid and as a plug-in. In 2022, a purely electric version will appear.

The exact date of the start of sales and the price level are not published.
