In South Korea, orders for the second-generation Kia Niro compact crossover (SG2) will start on January 18, in connection with which all the technical characteristics of the car have been published.
Recall that the new Niro was first shown at the end of November 2021, but until now, details about the model have been kept secret.
So, the length, width, height of the Niro II are 4420, 1825 and 1545 mm, respectively, the wheelbase is 2720 mm. That is, relative to the predecessor of the DE generation, the crossover is 65 mm longer, 20 mm wider and 10 mm higher, while the wheelbase has become 20 mm longer. The trunk volume in the normal state is 451 liters (+15 liters), the rear seats fold down, which allows you to carry large loads.
The diagonal of the digital instrument panel and the screen of the media system is the same - 10.25 inches each.
The novelty will be offered with a “parallel hybrid” installation, consisting of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 105 hp, an electric motor with a return of 32 kW (44 hp), a 6-speed DCT robotic gearbox with two clutches and lithium -ion battery. The total output of the system is 139 hp, which was the same for the previous hybrid Niro.
All suspensions are independent, the drive is only front.
The power plant has a Green Zone Drive feature that must be activated in closed areas and parks. In this case, the machine switches to pure electric traction and turns off the internal combustion engine.
The average consumption of gasoline in normal mode in the new Kia Niro is 4.8 liters of gasoline per 100 km, 0.2 liters less than its predecessor.
In Korea, the novelty will ask for 26.6 million won. In other countries, the model will appear within a few months.
