Kia will release a whole line of vehicles specifically for delivery and logistics services, according to The Korean Car Blog, citing materials from the company's recent "Investor Day".
A promising range of commercial vehicles was conditionally called the term purpose-built vehicles (PBV), that is, “purpose-built vehicles”.
The family will include both modified versions of current cars and newly created electric vehicles. In particular, there will be a Kia Niro with increased capacity (Niro Plus) - it is created specifically for taxis. Based on the subcompact Kia Ray, they will release a single (!) Cargo van.
As for the range of all-new PBVs, they are being developed on the modular eS platform with a purely electric propulsion system. This base will receive a mid-size van, a robotic taxi, a business van and some other cars. The resource of machines on this basis will be at least 600 thousand kilometers, their features will be ease of maintenance and an advanced autopilot of the fourth level according to the SAE classification.
Under the project, Kia will build a new car plant in South Korea, which will begin operation in 2025.
