Kia brought to Los Angeles two crossover Seltos

Kia

In July of this year, Kia introduced the Seltos subcompact crossover, which is manufactured and sold in India, Korea and - under the name KX3 - China. Now the sales geography of the model has been expanded to North America. At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia showed two show cars that can be described as Seltos for extreme off-road use. Both of them are built on the basis of an all-wheel drive version of the crossover with a 1.6-liter turbocharged “four” Gamma T-GDI with a capacity of 175 hp. and a torque of 265 Nm in conjunction with a two-disk “robot”.

The first of them - Kia Seltos Trail Attack Concept - differs from the standard crossover with powerful Hella lighting equipment on the roof and front bumper, the presence of a winch and an additional roof rack. The ground clearance of the concept is increased compared to the serial Seltos by 5 cm and reaches an impressive 23.4 cm, the car is equipped with all-wheel drive.

The second concept was called the Seltos X-Line Urban Concept, and in many ways it repeats the first one, but it does not have headlights in the front bumper, the car is also devoid of a winch, but there is an air intake in the hood. Whether the air filter is brought there is unknown, but it is known for sure that the Seltos X-Line Urban Concept has exactly the same ground clearance and power plant as the first concept. Other visual differences include yellow wheels and a trim under the rear bumper, as well as red door mirror caps.

The serial Kia Seltos for the USA practically repeats the version for the Korean market, adjusted, of course, for the adaptation of individual parts to local standards. However, for the American Seltos, they made a “beveled” front bumper, which made it possible to increase the angle of entry. Two modifications are available in the USA: 2.0 MPI engine (180 hp) + CVT and four-wheel drive or 1.6 Turbo-GDI engine (178 hp) + 7-speed preselective robotic gearbox and front-wheel drive.
