Kia held a full-fledged world premiere of a large electric crossover EV9. Recall that the photo of the car was distributed on March 15, but now its technical characteristics are disclosed.
Since the target market for the novelty is North America, its design was also developed in the Kia studio in the USA. Outside, the EV9 is characterized by a two-volume profile with a long horizontal roof and massive forms - just what the Americans like.
The overall length, width and height of the electric crossover are 5.01 m, 1.98 m and 1.75 m. The wheelbase is 3.10 m. The EV9 is the largest vehicle based on E-GMP, which in principle does not involve the use of internal combustion engines.
The car will be offered with one or two electric motors, in the first case, rear-wheel drive, in the second - full. The EV9 2WD is powered by a 149 kW (203 hp) and 350 Nm engine, while the EV9 4WD has 282 kW (384 hp) and 600 Nm. At the beginning of 2025, the range will be supplemented by a GT sports modification with even more powerful engines.
The rear-wheel drive crossover accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.4 seconds, the all-wheel drive performs the same exercise in 8.2 seconds. As an option, the Boost function is offered, which increases the torque of the EV9 4WD to 700 Nm - and allows it to gain the first "hundred" in 5.3 seconds, which is comparable to the best supercars of the 90s.
Regardless of the modification, the EV9 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 99.8 kWh, its full charge is enough for a run of 541 km. The system supports fast charging technology - with it, the energy reserve sufficient for 239 km of travel can be replenished in just 15 minutes.
Despite the angular shape of the body, the Kia EV9 is distinguished by finely crafted aerodynamics - the aerodynamic drag coefficient Cx is only 0.28. For comparison, the squat and swift in profile VAZ-2110 Cx was 0.347. It is noted that the aerodynamic bottom flaps and the developed rear spoiler allowed to improve the streamlining of the EV9.
Kia EV9 has good towing capabilities - the car can pull a trailer weighing up to 2.5 tons.
In the cabin - a three-row layout of seats according to the 2 + 2 + 2 scheme, that is, a total of six seats. The second row seats can be rotated 90 or 180 degrees: in the first case, boarding and disembarking is facilitated, in the second, a cozy “gazebo” can be arranged in the cabin. The digital instrument panel and the media system screen are combined into a single cluster, each of the displays has a diagonal of 12.3 inches. Between them perched a screen of additional information with a diagonal of 5 inches.
It is especially emphasized that genuine leather is NOT used in the cabin - the seats are covered with high-quality leatherette. The use of real leather conflicts with the ideology of an eco-friendly car, according to the Korean company.
In Western markets, Kia EV9 will start selling in May-June.
