Hyundai Motor has announced a new subcompact crossover, which will receive the trade name Exter, according to Autocar. A promising budget model will be produced in India and exported from there to neighboring developing countries.
Until now, the model was known under the internal index Ai3. The car is built on the same platform as the serial Grand i10 Nios hatchback, which is 3805 mm long, 1680 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2450 mm.
Regarding the Grand i10 Nios Exter has an original body and increased clearance.
It is known that this model will be offered with two petrol engine options: first with a 1.2-liter with 83 hp. and 113 Nm of torque (like the Venue, Grand i10 Nios and Aura), then it will appear with a 1.0-liter turbo engine.
In the future, it is possible that an all-electric version of the Exter will be introduced - at the moment, the company's management is discussing the possibility of its appearance.
So far, Hyundai has released a promotional image showing the outline of the Exter's silhouette. Earlier, unofficial photos of the camouflaged Ai3 / Exter prototype were leaked to the media - you can see from them that the car has a high angular body.
Serial production of the new model will begin in July.
