Brutal electric cars will be produced under the Hummer brand

Hummer

In early June, information appeared that General Motors was testing several copies of the Jeep Wrangler SUV at the Milford test site, and some foreign journalists suggested that GM was preparing to fight the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles concern and revive the legendary Hummer brand, especially since the brutal competitor represented by The Wrangler sold more than 240,000 units in the US last year.

Today, new information about this has appeared. According to the Bloomberg news agency, GM is at the stage of forming a new market strategy, and the growing popularity of electric cars is forcing the concern to seriously revise the model line. By 2023, GM aims to launch at least 20 electric models in a wide variety of segments, and in an interview with Bloomberg, GM president Mark Royce confirmed that the Hummer brand will be used as part of this strategy.

Whether Hummer will be resurrecting its classic H1, H2 and H3 SUVs as hybrid or all-electric versions is unknown at this point, as the GM boss said that electric pickups could also appear under the brand. However, he did not deny that Hummer would again produce cars, and Bloomberg insiders say that we are talking about electric cars.

In addition to the Hummer, GM is considering hybrid and electric versions of large SUVs - the GMC Sierra, Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, and the Chevrolet Suburban.

Hummer entered the civilian market in 1992 with the M998 Humvee under the control of AM General, in 1998 the shares of the brand were bought by General Motors. Against the backdrop of rising oil prices ten years ago, the brand was in a state of bankruptcy and car production was discontinued.
