The Chinese brand Haima, owned by the FAW Group, introduced the SG00 concept last year, which has now matured to a serial version. The car received the S8 index, at the moment it is the flagship of the company and will represent it in the domestic market.
The new Haima model retained the design of the concept, which, in turn, thanks to the narrow headlights, the characteristic design of the front bumper and the front grille, is very similar to the South Korean cross Santa Fe of the fourth – current generation. But at the rear, the design of the S8 clearly echoes the new Peugeot crossovers.
The S8 is 4565 mm long, 1682 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The car is built on the basis of the proprietary HMGA (Haima Global Architecture) platform, a feature of which is modularity, and the rear suspension of the cars created on its basis is multi-link. By the way, the same platform underlies the second-generation S5 compact crossover.
The Chinese colleagues did not provide photos of the S8 interior, but nothing prevents us from looking at the interior of the concept car that preceded it, which boasts a steering wheel beveled at the bottom, an electronic dashboard, and a multimedia system, the screen of which was casually mounted in the dashboard.
Under the hood of the new Haima crossover is a 1.6-liter turbocharged “four” with the HMA GA16-YF index, whose power is 194 hp. with. This motor works with an "automatic" at six speeds. Drive - front, full car does not rely. Later, Haima is going to expand the engine range with a 1.2-liter turbo engine, the power of which is not advertised.
Like its South Korean inspiration, the S8 is equipped with state-of-the-art passive safety systems, with collision avoidance and lane departure warning on the list.
