Concern General Motors intends to offer carbon wheels as an option for its sports models. The release date for this offer has not yet been specified.
Foreign media believe that in order to realize this plan, the concern will cooperate with the Australian company Carbon Revolution, which is known for its carbon rims for cars such as the Ford GT and Shelby GT350R.
In the GM lineup, the innovative wheels are expected to appear on the Cadillac V-Series, as well as the Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro.
The concern claims that the decision to offer carbon rims is due to an increase in the dynamic characteristics of the car - the new wheels will be stronger and lighter.
GM is currently testing carbon fiber rims to evaluate their durability and stability. In addition, a repair technique is being studied, but, most likely, damaged wheels will be changed completely.
