The American concern General Motors has decided to postpone the release of new generations of popular models due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States.

According to the Reuters news agency, citing an insider, GM has decided to postpone the release of new generations of full-size Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade SUVs to a later date. Recall that they were presented at the end of 2019 - the beginning of 2020, new cars were supposed to be on the conveyor at the plant in Arlington (Texas) in early April, but now the enterprise is closed for quarantine, and GM will postpone the start of production until until the situation stabilizes.

The concern also decided to postpone until 2021 the preparatory work for the release of the new Chevrolet Equinox, Bolt EV, Silverado, GMC Terrain and Sierra, as well as the Cadillac XT4, most of which will be presented as 2022 models.

The change of plans is connected with the desire of the group's management to maintain free funds during the coronavirus.

At the moment, the factories of the three leading US automobile concerns - Ford Motor, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles - are closed.

Over the past 24 hours, 20,353 new cases of Covid-19 infection have been confirmed in the United States.
