General Motors introduced three electric motors for future fuel-free cars

Cadillac

General Motors at the Mackinac Policy Conference in Michigan (USA) presented three electric motors of the Ultium Drive series for fuel-free cars of the concern.

The first permanent magnet motor develops 180 kW (245 hp) of power and is designed to be mounted on the front axle of vehicles. The second one is made using the same technology, but its return is higher - 255 kW (347 hp). In addition, it is designed for cars with all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, but the number of such motors in one car cannot exceed three. The third electric motor is made using a slightly different technology. It is of the asynchronous type and develops 62 kW (84 hp), GM is going to use it as an option on machines with all-wheel drive. Along with the traction motors, an electrical module is also presented, which includes an inverter, power circuits and a charger.

The new GM electric motors are 50% lighter and 25% more powerful than their predecessors, the most productive 347-horsepower modification has already been tested on a fuel-free Hammer EV model. However, the concern is not going to be limited to heavy battery SUVs and pickup trucks and will install new electric motors on cars with different body types. Soon they will be equipped with the luxury fuel-free SUV Cadillac Lyriq, orders for which the brand has been accepting since last week, and later they will be tried on by cars with a different body type, including sports cars.
