The premium brand Cadillac has unveiled the most powerful production model in its history, the CTS-V sedan. The world premiere of the car will take place in early January at the Detroit Auto Show.
The novelty is a sports version of the mass-produced Cadillac CTS sedan. The CTS-V will compete with premium European sports sedans such as the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63.
The sedan with the letter V in the name differs from the “ordinary” CTS with an aerodynamic body kit that includes extended wheel arches, bumpers and sills, as well as a carbon fiber hood and a new radiator grille. Due to the installation of many spacers, the rigidity of the sedan chassis increased by about 25%.
Under the hood of the CTS-V is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the output of which is 640 hp. power and 855 Nm of thrust. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic. Acceleration to “hundreds” takes the sedan 3.7 seconds. The maximum speed is 322 km/h.
The car also received sports suspension and steering, an electronically controlled limited slip differential, four-piston Brembo brakes (390 mm front and 365 mm rear discs) and an adaptive Magnetic Ride Control suspension.
An optional Performance Traction Management system is available with four preset modes for “normal” and sporty driving, as well as moving on a track or snow.
In addition, the sedan is equipped with Recaro sports seats, carbon interior inserts, a digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch display, a Bose audio system and a sports telemetry complex.
