Launched in 2018, the current-generation BMW 3-Series G20/G21 family has undergone a comprehensive upgrade. There are changes both in the exterior and in the cabin.
Outside, the sedan and station wagon of the third series have changed the design of the front. The block headlights became narrower and lost their “jags” along the lower edge. The radiator grille has acquired angular side edges. In the bumper, the air intake area was increased and the edges were made more pronounced. L-shaped style elements were placed in the corners. At the rear, both the sedan and the station wagon have only a new bumper with a larger diffuser imitation. All steel stamped parts remained the same.
BMW no longer offers optional laser headlights for the 3-Series - they were too expensive and therefore not in demand. Now in all versions the head light is made on LED elements.
Inside, the main change is a large curved dual-screen unit that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch media display. Under this decision, they changed the architecture of the front panel, “narrowed” the ventilation deflectors and re-arranged the buttons. The audio system and climate control are now controlled through the media complex. The classic transmission selector is no longer there - instead, a miniature shifter.
The media system runs on the new "OS" OS 8, the graphics and menu structure are close to smartphones - thus, it will be intuitive to users. The built-in Internet uses 5G communication - system updates and navigator maps began to load faster. Already in the basic configuration, the car has a three-zone climate control.
In terms of technology, the news is this - with restyling, a modification with a manual transmission dropped out of the BMW 3-Series range. Now all versions are equipped only with an 8-speed "automatic".
The engines remain the same.
In the European Union, the range of versions is as follows:
gasoline - 318i (2.0, power - 156 hp), 320i (2.0, 184 hp), 330i (2.0, 245 hp), M340i (3.0, 374 hp);
