BMW i7 electric sedan with over 600 hp will be released in April

BMW

The promising BMW i7 electric executive sedan will be shown in April, the presentation will take place simultaneously in New York, Munich and Beijing. This was announced on March 16 as part of the BMW Group Annual Conference 2022.

The appearance of the i7 is kept secret, while only promotional materials have been distributed, where the sedan is shown in twilight. The car will retain the traditional BMW profile with a long bonnet and a Hofmeister curve. Huge “nostrils” will remain in place, but once again evolve: their shape will be made in the manner of the BMW iX electric crossover, that is, these are large angular false panels, behind which the radars of the autopilot system are hidden.

The video shows only DRLs, the dipped and main beam units are installed separately below (while they are hidden in the twilight, but you can see them in the brightened photo). The sedan will get power retractable door handles.

The BMW i7, like the next-generation 7-Series with internal combustion engines, is built on the flexible, modular CLAR platform. It is expected that the petrol and diesel "sevens" will differ fr om the i7 in terms of external panels, although the body frame will be common.

The i7 will have two electric motors, one per axle. The same ones are installed on the iX M60 crossover, wh ere they develop 540 hp. and 1015 Nm. On a sedan, power will exceed 600 hp. The traction battery installed in the floor will provide a power reserve of 580-610 km according to the WLTP cycle.

The cabin has a 31-inch rear-seat screen that pops out of the ceiling. One of the photos shows the display of the media system and front seats with integrated headrests.

The exact date of the presentation of the BMW i7 has not yet been disclosed.

Recall that the current 7-Series G11 / 12 has been produced since 2015. It offers a range of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as hybrid power plants.
