Audi has unveiled the flagship models of the Audi Q3 family: the RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback. Traditionally for the RS series, they received a powerful engine, a modified suspension and noticeable visual differences.
Most importantly, the RS Q3 retained its signature 2.5-liter inline-five. The updated 2.5 TFSI engine is familiar from the Audi TT RS, it develops 400 hp. and 480 Nm. Crossovers are equipped with a 7-speed "robot" and all-wheel drive quattro.
Such a bunch is able to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. By default, the speed is limited at around 250 km / h, for a surcharge, the “maximum speed” can be increased to 280 km / h. The driver can choose from six driving modes: comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, RS1 and RS2.
Compared to standard crossovers, the RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback have been lowered by 10 mm. Engineers installed 375mm front brake discs and 310mm rear brakes. Not without a revision of the steering system, which has become adaptive. Dynamic Chassis Control suspension with electronically controlled dampers is available as an option.
A lot of new things are also provided in terms of visual perception. The RS versions are distinguished by their own bumpers, a large rear diffuser and huge discs: their diameter is 20 and 21 inches (we are talking about a very compact crossover). Inside there are sports seats and a steering wheel truncated from below.
Sales of sports crossovers in Europe will begin in October, with the first deliveries scheduled for the end of the year. In Germany, the price will be €63,500 for the RS Q3 and €65,000 for the RS Q3 Sportback.
