The first copy of the Acura NSX in a farewell special version of the Type S was sold at auction for $ 1.1 million. The auction was held as part of the Monterey Car Week automobile exhibition in California (USA).

Recall that Honda Motor plans to build 350 copies of the NSX Type S. The car with serial number 001 is equipped with an optional lightweight package, it includes Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon-fiber engine cover and interior inserts made of the same material. These elements reduce the weight by 26.2 kg. This option costs $13,000.

The buyer was Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group. The latter is considered the largest privately owned car dealer in the United States. About 100 of their dealer centers are open across the country. They sell both new and used cars.

Recall, Acura NSX Type S was introduced on August 12. This is a farewell special version of the flagship sports car Honda Motor. In total, it is planned to build 350 copies (minus 349 already sold): 300 for the US market, 30 for Japan and 20 for the rest of the world.

The power of the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 has increased from 507 to 527 hp, torque - from 550 to 600 Nm. This was achieved through the use of new turbochargers from the racing NSX GT3 Evo, more efficient injectors and a larger intercooler.

In the NSX hybrid system, engineers have increased the battery capacity by 20% and its maximum output by 10%, which allows the three electric motors to consume more energy (exact data not published). As a result, the installation produces a total of 608 hp. and 667 Nm (+27 hp and +22 Nm compared to the regular NSX).

The nine-speed “robot” has learned to shift up gears 50% faster. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD all-wheel drive system now has more precise thrust vectoring, helping to improve cornering speed.

In the US, the base price of a sports car is $169,500. So Mr. Hendrick overpaid about six times the retail price.
