Toyota Motor will hold the world premiere of the new (sixteenth) generation of the Crown model on July 15.
According to the publication, the new Crown is a "four-door sedan with SUV motifs." But this is a basic body modification, in addition to it, they will also offer a crossover with a station wagon body (it will be released in 2024), as well as, oddly enough, a hatchback.
It is clarified that the sixteenth Crown was given the factory code S235, the car will have an exterior in the style of other Toyotas of the latest wave, in particular, it will echo the bZ4X with narrowed headlights, and the wide air intake with the Corolla Sport. At the same time, the proportions of the body will remind you of the bZ SDN (this development was shown at the end of 2021 in the status of a concept car).
The Crown S235 design will be based on the TNGA-L platform, which is also used for the current generation Crown S220. It is expected that the new Crown will be equipped with a hybrid system, composed of a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine and an electric motor.
The current Crown S220 has been in production since 2018. It is built on a rear-wheel drive version of the TNGA modular platform. The sedan is available with a 2.0-liter 8AR-FTS turbo engine (245 hp), as well as in two hybrid versions: with an installation based on the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated A25A-FXS (226 hp including recoil of the electric motor) and with a 3.5-liter V6 8GR-FXS (359 hp, taking into account the recoil of the electric motor). Drive - rear or full.
