Suzuki Motor's Indian branch, Maruti Suzuki, will release a production crossover with a design inspired by the Futuro-e concept car unveiled in New Delhi last week.
This prototype has an unusual sporty look - it has a sloping roofline, massive sidewalls, small windows, a high hood and full LED optics. In terms of dimensions, the experimental Suzuki is comparable to the compact Hyundai Creta. Futuro-e was shown in the form of a slow-moving layout without a deep study of the technical stuffing, saying that it was an electric car.
Suzuki Motor will release a production car with this design within a couple of years. The target market for this model will be India, where Suzuki has a very strong position. According to Autocar India, the production version of the Futuro-e will be equipped with both petrol and diesel engines. A modernized DDiS225 (volume 1.5 l) can become a diesel engine, engineers bring it to Euro-6 standards. Suzuki itself hints at hybrid and purely electric engines.
Also in New Delhi, the company showed an upgraded Vitara Brezza crossover with an improved 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 105 hp. Fiat's 1.3-liter 90-horsepower turbodiesel has sunk into oblivion due to non-compliance with tougher Indian environmental standards. Gasoline works with a 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-speed "automatic", and in the second case, the motor is equipped with a 48-volt hybrid component, which includes a starter-generator with a belt drive, as well as a voltage converter.
From the point of view of the exterior, the updated car in front differs from its predecessor in LED-optics, a front bumper with a silver lining in the center and enlarged air intakes, in which fog lights are mounted. Behind the changes are minimal: the other was the lining under the bumper. But in the cabin, the differences are not visible at all. Recall that Brezza has been produced since 2016.
