Previous Suzuki Jimny finally discontinued

The Suzuki Jimny frame SUV in the previous (third) generation was discontinued in Japan back in 2018, but it turns out that this model has still been assembled in Brazil in small batches at the facilities of the local company HPE Automotores, which is a partner of Mitsubishi Motors and Suzuki Motor. However, now the old Jimny is not produced in Brazil either - HPE recently announced that it had assembled the last copies of the SUV at its plant in Catalao.

The company was ready to continue making Jimny III for as long as it wanted - the demand for a niche model is stable. However, in the Latin American country, tougher certification requirements for new cars have come into force, which relate to exhaust, passive safety and other aspects. It turned out to be economically impractical to drive the old 1.3-liter 85-horsepower gasoline engine into the new environmental standards. Brazilians still continue to offer Jimny III from stock at a price of 111,990 reais.

At the same time, the fourth generation Jimny is also offered in this Latin American country - it is imported in finished form from Japan.

Suzuki Jimny III was released in 1998; in Japan, the last copies of this car were assembled at the end of February 2018. Since then, the SUV has been made only in Brazil.
