The French concern Renault has published a promotional photo of the interior of the promising compact crossover Austral, which is created specifically for the European Union and will replace the Kadjar model in the range.

Shaded images show fragments of the cabin's front fascia, Renault promises to use an expensive, soft-touch upper. They will even provide decorative inserts made of natural wood, made in the technique of Japanese fine art maki-e, which emphasizes the natural texture of wood.

Soft plastic, leatherette with stitching and textiles will also be used in the door cards. The center console has a longitudinally adjustable arm rest. It is designed in an aviation style, and when moved, it makes a click, similar to a mechanical combination lock of a safe.

The French revealed the general plan of the interior at the end of January, but in the form of a design sketch. Inside, contrasting trim and two screens are provided: in place of the dashboard and in the center. In the new proprietary OpenR Link interface, 90% of the functions will be available in one or two clicks. Promised support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Renault Austral is being built on an updated version of the CMF-CD modular platform, which is widely used in the Renault-Nissan alliance. Body length is 4.51 meters. It is planned the appearance of gasoline and hybrid (including recharging from a socket) versions. The power of the older option is about 200 hp.

The presentation date and prices of Austral have not yet been disclosed.

Recall that the current Renault Kadjar has been produced since 2015, in 2018 it underwent restyling. The car also relies on the CMF-CD base, but is not equipped with hybrid powertrains: it is offered only with gasoline and diesel turbo engines.
