At the eWays event, Renault unveiled the Megane eVision concept. This is a hatchback that combines design elements of city cars, crossovers and even coupes. According to Renault CEO Luca de Meo, Megane eVision is 95% consistent with the appearance of a production car that will hit the assembly line at the end of 2021.
De Meo recalled that a huge number of modifications were presented in the Megane family at one time: hatchbacks with three and five doors, a station wagon, a sedan, a convertible and a Scenic compact van. Based on Megane eVision, many different cars will also be released, but already completely electric. And this time the line will definitely be replenished with a crossover.
The concept is built on the new CMF-EV platform, which in the future will form the basis of many of the company's models. It also built the Nissan Ariya crossover. The Megane eVision uses one of the thinnest batteries on the market and an ultra-compact electric motor to maximize cabin and trunk space.
By the way, the concept turned out to be even slightly smaller than the real Megane of the fourth generation: the length of Megane eVision is 4.21 meters, which is 12 cm shorter than the current model. At the same time, the engineers managed to fit a battery with a capacity of 60 kWh and an electric motor with a capacity of 218 hp. Drive - front. The electric car weighs 1650 kg. Acceleration to the first "hundred" is given in less than eight seconds.
The production version of the Renault Megane eVision will go on sale in the second half of 2021. The car will be available with batteries of different capacities and motors of different capacities.
