Together with the Renault Megane eVision concept car, a serial electric car also debuted at the eWays event, but already under the Dacia brand. This is an ultra-budget subcompact crossover Spring.
The design of the novelty did not come as a surprise, since its prototype was shown back in March, and in the summer patent images of the commercial version of the model got into free access. In addition, do not forget that the Dacia Spring is just a modification of the Renault City K-ZE electric car adapted to the European Union and renamed, which the concern has been producing and selling in China since 2019. The K-ZE itself is unified in terms of chassis and bodywork with the Kwid gasoline ultra-budget crossover, which has been produced for some developing countries since 2015.
Dacia Spring is 3734 mm long, 1770 mm wide and 1516 mm high. Wheelbase - 2423 mm. Ground clearance - 150 mm. The novelty is smaller in size than the Grant hatchback, but its interior is nevertheless designed for five.
The manufacturer installed a 33 kW (45 hp) electric motor that powers a 26.8 kWh battery. The power reserve on a single charge reaches 225 km on WLTP in the combined cycle and 295 km in the city. Declared maximum speed of 125 km / h.
If the Spring Eco button is used to activate the economical ride settings, the range is increased by 10% - this is achieved by reducing engine power by 23 kW (31 hp) and limiting the maximum speed to 100 km / h. A 30 kW fast charging station can restore battery energy from 0 to 80% in just an hour.
In the basic configuration of the Dacia Spring Electric, two airbags, an automatic emergency braking system, power windows and an on-board computer with a 3.5-inch display are announced. Air conditioning, spare wheel, media system, navigator, parking assistance system with rear view camera will be offered for a surcharge.
Despite the Romanian brand, the new electric car will be produced side by side with the aggregate "donor" - in the Chinese city of Shiyan. That is, they plan to import this model to the European Union in finished form. Sales of new items should start at the beginning of 2021, it is expected that in the basic version it will cost less than 10,000 euros. At first, the electric car will be supplied only to carsharing services. Private customers will be able to buy a novelty from the fall of next year.
