Renault discontinued Scenic compact MPV

The French concern Renault, as part of the financial recovery program, has removed the five-seater Scenic compact MPV from its range - this model has been discontinued and is no longer available for order. The stretched seven-seat version of the Grand Scenic is still being produced and sold, but will also be sent to history within a few months; there are no plans to replace this family, Caradisiac reports.

Scenic has been continuously present in the Renault range since 1996, and for the first three years of its “life” it had the double name Megane Scenic. For 26 years, a total of 2.8 million units of the model have been sold. The latest generation of the Scenic was the fourth in a row - it was released in 2016 and was based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-C / D modular platform. The reason for abandoning the model is simple - it has ceased to be in demand. At the end of 2021, Renault sold only 20,678 units of this compact van, for comparison, ten years earlier, in 2011, 160,159 Scenics (then still the third generation) were sold.

The once popular minivan (MPV) class in Europe is dying out, unable to compete with crossovers. At the end of April, it became known that Citroen, which is part of the Stellantis concern competing with Renault, decided to completely leave the MPV segment during 2022.

The place of production of Scenic / Grand Scenic is the Renault plant in Douai in northern France.

In February 2022, in France, due to low demand, they stopped producing the mid-size sedan and station wagon Renault Talisman (however, this car continues to be made in the sedan body in South Korea under the name Renault Samsung SM6).
