Renault agrees to reduce its influence on Nissan

Renault

A new turning point has come in the history of the Renault-Nissan alliance - the French company agreed to reduce the participation in the capital of the Japanese company from the current 43.7% to 15.3%, the remaining 28.4% will be transferred to a non-voting trust fund.

Nissan has long sought to build a more equal relationship with a partner

The decision to reduce the share of Renault still has to be approved by the board of corporations. Nissan owns only 15% of the shares of the French company and has no right to influence its decisions. Thus, the ownership structure of the two key Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi participants will become cross.

At the same time, the French concern will retain economic rights, including dividends and sales proceeds, until it sells its stake. Nissan, in turn, invests in the Ampere company created by Renault, specializing in electric vehicles and software, TASS notes.
