Toyota Motor has a major recall, covering 196,984 vehicles across 14 different models. The service campaign covers cars for the domestic Japanese market.
The press release states that a bug in the software of the collision avoidance system may occur, which leads to inconsistent operation of the front video camera, the wave sensor and the combined counter. As a result, when a dangerous approach to an obstacle in the form of a car is detected, automatic emergency braking may not work. In addition, problems with the parking assistance system are likely.
Owners of recalled Toyota vehicles will install new software for the front camera and combined meter free of charge - this will eliminate failures.
The campaign applies to Toyota models Noah/Voxy, Sienta, Corolla, Corolla Sport, Corolla Touring, Crown, bZ4X; Lexus models NX250, NX350, NX350h, NX450h+, Suzuki Landy, and Subaru Solterra. Defective cars were released between September 1, 2021 and January 9, 2023. To date, six cases of problems with the camera have been recorded.
