Toyota Motor has carried out a comprehensive modernization of the compact crossover Lexus UX - it has strengthened the body and modernized the interior.
In the area of the doorways, engineers added 20 additional welding points - this increased the torsional rigidity of the body and, as a result, improved the car's response to steering turns. Also, in order to increase the sharpness of control, the electric booster and shock absorbers were reconfigured.
The updated Lexus UX will be equipped with 18-inch Bridgestone tires with an optimized tread that reduces noise levels. By the way, these tires are made using run-flat technology, that is, they retain the ability to ride after a puncture.
On top of that, Lexus has made improvements exclusively to the top version of the F Sport. It is now fitted as standard with Yamaha's AVS adaptive adjustable shock absorbers that provide "superior steering, stability and comfort." The design of the UX F Sport added a strut between the front suspensions and a horizontal damper in the rear (it dampens rolls).
Inside, there is an upgraded media system with an intuitive interface. The tablet-type screen has a diagonal of 8 or 12.3 inches, depending on the configuration. Added the function of voice control and software updates "over the air".
To improve ergonomics, Lexus engineers repositioned some of the switches around the instrument cluster and heated seat buttons.
In the Lexus Safety System, the monocamera and radar have been upgraded - thanks to this, their coverage area has been expanded and the efficiency of detecting obstacles in the form of pedestrians and cyclists at night has been improved. Added automatic correction of the steering course in case of accidental departure fr om the lane. In addition, the crossover has learned to stop on its own on the side of the road and call emergency services in a situation wh ere the driver suddenly became ill and lost control of the car.
Recall that UX has been produced since 2018. It is offered in versions:
200 (petrol engine 2.0 l, power - 168 hp, transmission - CVT and front-wheel drive),
250h (hybrid unit consisting of a 2.0 liter engine, an electric motor, a variator and a nickel-metal hydride battery, the total power is 181 hp, the drive is all-wheel drive).
An all-electric UX (300e) is also available exclusively for China.
In Japan, North America and the European Union, the updated Lexus UX will be available in the summer of 2022.
