Portal Jalopnik.com published photos of the new compact crossover Jeep. The official premiere of the model will take place as part of the Geneva Motor Show 2014 tomorrow.
According to the source, the novelty called Renegade will be the most affordable crossover in the Jeep lineup. Previously, it was assumed that the car was built on the platform of the Fiat 500L compact van, but the SUV resembles the Fiat Panda 4x4 model in terms of body outlines. Later, the Italian brand may present its own version of the Renegade, designated as 500X - the company's plans to create a compact crossover became known in 2012.
Judging by the details of the exterior, the modification of the Jeep novelty featured in the published photos will be positioned as an off-road performance - the car is equipped with a body kit made of unpainted plastic with red towing loops in the bumper. Jeep demonstrated a similar solution on a special off-road version of the Cherokee Trailhawk.
Under the hood of the Renegade, there may be new Fiat engines - a 0.9-liter gasoline unit or a 1.3-liter diesel. The new Jeep will be assembled at the Fiat plant in Italy. The car should go on sale in 2015.
