The American company Jeep, which is part of Stellantis, has announced show cars that it will present in early April at the annual Easter Jeep Safari festival near Moab, Utah.
This time, the company prepared seven concepts specially for the event, made by deep reworking of production cars. Three of them are plug-in hybrids, one is a pure electric vehicle. Next, briefly about each of the show cars.
The most charismatic instance can be called a restomod based on the classic three-door Jeep Cherokee SJ frame of 1978. The redesigned car bears the 4xe Concept prefix in the name, since instead of native units, a hybrid system from the modern Wrangler Rubicon 4xe is installed here, it includes a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and two electric motors. There is a four-wheel drive and a reduction gear with a ratio of 4:1. They decided not to interfere with the recognizable exterior - the car received wheels of increased dimension (landing diameter - 17 inches, external - 37), under which it was necessary to cut out the arches and install new expanders. Also, the SUV was equipped with original power bumpers, and the body was painted with bright yellow enamel.
The Jeep Scrambler 392 Concept is a two-door pickup truck based on the modern Wrangler Rubicon 392. The car is equipped with a 477-horsepower 6.4-liter Hemi V8 gasoline engine, has no side doors and no rear cab wall. The original exterior body parts are molded from fiberglass. Air bellows are used in the suspension, which allow you to adjust the ride height - relative to the serial Wrangler Rubicon 392, the increase is from 3.8 cm to 10.2 cm. The name, by the way, is historical - the word Scrambler was a light truck based on the Jeep CJ-7, produced in 1981-1986.
Sideburn Concept is a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon adapted for extreme off-roading. It is equipped with an original loading platform, in which niches for canisters are organized on the sides. Above the cab are 11-inch LED auxiliary lights. Behind the cabin is a metal-composite beam, in which mounts for camping equipment are provided. At the front of the car is an imitation of a kengurin, on the ground the Sideburn Concept relies on huge 37-inch off-road tires.
Based on the hybrid Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, the Departure Concept show car was created under the legend of the ideal vehicle for outdoor enthusiasts. At the same time, accessories from the Jeep Performance Parts catalog of branded tuning parts are widely used in the car. There are tubular doors, imitation kengurin, extended fenders, additional light installed on the roof (lanterns can be rotated), raised suspension (+5 cm) and 37-inch wheels.
The modern frame full-size Jeep Grand Wagoneer served as the basis for the Overland Concept, designed as a transport for protracted auto expeditions. The main highlight of the car is a roof-mounted Skyloft folding camping tent for two adults, which is accessible from the passenger compartment through an opening in the roof, originally cut out for a panoramic sunroof (it has been removed). There are also no third-row seats - bean bags and plank flooring are installed there, that is, at a halt you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a country holiday. Other features of the car are a 38 mm raised ground clearance, oversized off-road tires and original bumpers.
The Wrangler Rubicon 4xe Concept is based on the 2021 limited-edition five-door Wrangler with hot pink body paint. Mounted here are similar Scrambler 392 adjustable air bellows in the suspension and off-road tires with an outer diameter of 37 inches.
The all-electric Wrangler Magneto Concept will be brought to the Easter Jeep Safari for the third time, having first been shown this car in 2021. The show car is equipped with a single electric motor, but now its power is controlled by the driver in the range from 285 to 650 hp. The brake energy recovery system can also be disabled. Relative to last year's Wrangler Magneto, there are changes in the exterior - the angle of the windshield has been increased by 12 degrees, and the doorways have been expanded.
