Jeep showed a shortened Grand Cherokee with an electric motor

Stellantis has introduced a new version of the SUV Jeep Grand Cherokee - 4xe. This is not only the first short-wheelbase five-seat model in the new generation Grand Cherokee range, but also the debut plug-in hybrid.

Recall that the fifth generation Grand Cherokee (WL) was shown in January. Then the Americans revealed only the L-version with a length of 5205 mm with three rows of seats.

The shortened Grand Cherokee received a smaller rear overhang and a different side glazing configuration. The rear bumper, fenders and tailgate are also different here.

Technical details have not yet been disclosed: they will be announced at the New York Auto Show, which will be held at the end of August. It is expected that the main units will be transferred from the Jeep Wrangler 4xe hybrid. Such an SUV is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine, two electric motors and a traction battery with a capacity of 17.3 kWh. The total return of the trio is 380 hp. and 637 Nm. The SUV is capable of driving up to 40 km on electric traction.

By the way, in May 2021, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe became the best-selling plug-in (that is, with the possibility of external recharging) hybrid in the United States.

Jeep has also announced its intention to release all-electric versions of all its models by 2025.
