Jeep has updated the flagship SUV Grand Cherokee

Jeep

Jeep has decided to update its flagship Grand Cherokee SUV. The 2014 model year car will be shown to the public for the first time today at the Detroit Auto Show.

Characteristic elements of restyling are "squinted" headlights, new taillights, a modified grille and fog lights, which are now located higher on the bumper.

The interior also did not remain unchanged. Grand Cherokee received a steering wheel and gearbox selector of a new design, a fundamentally different design of the instrument panel and climate control unit. They promise us an improved finish.

But the main innovation Jeep calls not improved off-road capabilities, but a new diesel V6 engine. It develops 240 hp. and allows you to drive almost 1200 km on one tank. It will be paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Gasoline units will also remain in service - a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar and a 5.7-liter V8. With the latter, a system for shutting off part of the cylinders at low loads will be available. The most powerful modification of the SRT8 will be equipped with a 6.4-liter V-shaped "eight" HEMI. Its return will still be 470 hp, but the acceleration dynamics, apparently, will be better.

Prices for the updated model have not yet been announced.
