No, this is not a toaster: Isuzu will present the truck of the future in Tokyo

Japanese company Isuzu Motors, celebrating its 80th anniversary since its founding, will present two new developments at the Tokyo International Motor Show - the FD-SI concept truck and the all-electric version of the Elf medium-duty truck.

Using the concept FD-SI as an example, Isuzu designers demonstrate their vision of the future of trucks. The world of insects served as a source of inspiration for the development of the appearance of the experimental model, and not at all toasters, as one might think, looking at the photo. The panels of the cargo compartment use a honeycomb structure, like in bee hives. The driver's seat in the Isuzu FD-SI cab is located in the center of the cab - the Isuzu press service assures that it is more convenient to work this way.

Another premiere from Isuzu is the Elf EV, that is, an all-electric modification of the popular Elf medium-duty truck. The new version is Isuzu's answer to the growing popularity of electric cars in the Japanese market. While the company does not disclose technical information about the new product, but notes that the car is equipped with high-capacity batteries that provide a decent range. Outside, the electric Elf is distinguished from the diesel counterpart by decorative panels over the underrun bars, original wheel caps with blue “veins” and, of course, special “EV” stickers on the body and cab.

In addition to these two developments, Isuzu will also present series products in Tokyo.

Recall that the Tokyo International Motor Show opens its doors on October 25. You can read about other planned premieres of the exhibition on a special page on the Drome.
