Isuzu has decided to stop selling new vehicles in North America by January 31, 2009.
Isuzu currently offers four models in the US: the Isuzu Ascender (SUV) and three pickup trucks, i-290 Extended Cab, i-370 Extended Cab and i-370 Crew Cab. All vehicles are manufactured by General Motors under an OEM agreement. In 2007, about 7,000 Isuzu cars were sold in the USA.
The decision to stop sales was made due to the fact that the company could not find a way to release a new generation of its cars. In the future, Isuzu intends to focus its efforts in the US on sales of trucks and diesel engines.
