Isuzu is about to enter the Mexican truck market. This summer, Isuzu, together with Mitsubishi, are going to open a company in Mexico for the sale of trucks up to 3 tons, which will be imported from Japan from October this year. Isuzu intends to take advantage of the benefits in the field of import duties, which come into effect from April this year in the countries of the FTA (Free Trading Association) zone. This free trade zone includes Canada, the United States and Mexico.
FTA regulations allow up to 50,000 vehicles to be imported duty-free annually. In addition, from March comes into force an agreement that reduces duties on imported cars by 50%. Isuzu intends to take full advantage of this situation. Recall that today only Mazda is actively working in Mexico, using the benefits of the FTA zone. Isuzu is the first Japanese company to sell its trucks in Mexico.
