In 2020, the Infiniti model line will be replenished with the QX55 sports crossover. One of the new features will be an interesting appearance that will imitate the famous FX / QX70 series. Another QX55 teaser confirmed these guesses.
Released back in 2003, the first generation of Infiniti FX has become a landmark for the Japanese brand. The crossover received such a catchy design that the manufacturer decided to keep the shape of the body in the second generation of the model. Thus, this style lasted on the assembly line until 2017, that is, 14 years. Even today, the exterior of the original FX is still not obsolete.
No less important, the car is easily recognized in the stream. It is for this reason that Infiniti decided to use this sloping roof style again. The Infiniti QX55 will be set against contemporary coupe-crossovers like the BMW X4. At the same time, the car cannot be called a successor to the FX / QX70: it will be more compact, and besides, it will be built on a fundamentally different platform (a transverse internal combustion engine and a front-wheel drive base for the QX55 instead of a longitudinal engine and the main rear-wheel drive for the FX / QX70).
The Infiniti QX55 is likely to be a coupe version of the Infiniti QX50. Accordingly, the filling here will be similar: a 268-horsepower 2.0-liter engine and a CVT.
The QX55 is scheduled to enter the market in summer 2020. The bet will be made on sales in the US, but the crossover will be available in other countries.
