Japanese Honda Motor has introduced a new development - a compact seven-seat crossover N7X. So far, the car has the status of a demonstration prototype, but in August they will present a completely ready-to-series version.
Honda N7X is the forerunner of an inexpensive crossover for developing countries in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, etc.). The car was developed by the Honda Asia Pacific research and development center located in Bangkok, and it will simultaneously replace two models in the Honda product line - the BR-V crossover (produced since 2016) and the Mobilio compact van (produced since 2013). The N7X index stands for New 7-seater eXcitement, that is, "new, 7-seater, amazing." Whether the car will retain such a designation in a serial incarnation or will be released under a different name is still unknown.
The car has a two-volume universal body, the design of which echoes other Hondas of the latest wave, in particular, the second generation Vezel compact crossovers and the fifth CR-V. Characteristic plastic body panels, belt stamping along the sidewalls, the headlights-radiator grille composition, etc.
The design of the N7X is based on a front-wheel drive platform from the GN generation City model (produced since 2019). The length of the Honda N7X is about 4.5 m (the parameter is not specified), the interior layout is three-row, according to the scheme 2 + 3 + 2.
The interior of the crossover is still kept secret, but it is expected that here the serial N7X will be largely unified with the City. Unification with this model is also expected in terms of units, that is, the N7X will receive a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 123 hp. and a torque of 145 Nm. Honda can also offer a 1.0-liter turbo engine with 123 hp. and 175 Nm. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a continuously variable variator.
