Car news | New generation GMC Sierra pickup truck gets carbon fiber cargo platform

In the United States, the premiere of a new generation of the GMC Sierra pickup truck took place. The car constructively repeats the previously presented Chevrolet Silverado, but differs significantly in the richness of additional equipment.

First of all, the Sierra received its own body panels and it is difficult to confuse the car with the Silverado from the outside. The front of the pickup truck has a traditionally massive chrome grille and unusually shaped taillights with LED daylight segments.

You can order a pickup truck with V-shaped atmospheric "eights" with a volume of 5.3 and 6.2 liters, as well as with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel. For the "younger" gasoline engine, a 9-speed "automatic" is provided, the remaining two engines are offered with a 10-band automatic transmission.

GMC has come up with many new solutions for the Sierra. For example, the cargo platform door called MultiPro Tailgate, which has 6 different positions: from a work surface (or workbench) to a bench that can withstand up to 170 kg.

The loading platform itself turned out to be the most capacious in the class and in the standard version it holds 1784 liters of cargo. It also has several devices for securing transported property and a 110-volt outlet. Compared with the previous generation Sierra, the strength of the loading platform has increased by 50%.

Another option is CarbonPro. In this case, the "liner", as well as the side and bottom panels of the loading platform, are made of carbon fiber composite, which is resistant to damage and corrosion. Selecting this option allows the machine to be 28 kg lighter than similar versions. For comparison, the total weight reduction of the GMC Sierra with the change of generations was 163 kg.

Most of the interior elements are similar to the Chevrolet Silverado, but the Sierra will have different seats and expensive trim with aluminum and wood details. Also, the new pickup has a multimedia system with a color projection display, which, according to the manufacturer, appeared in the segment for the first time.

As an option, there is an assistant for driving with a trailer and a trailer, it reminds you of the due date of service, provides a list of important items to check before the trip, and gives access to checking the trailer's electrical and lighting equipment.

There is also monitoring of tire pressure and temperature, a multi-camera vision system (including displaying the image on the interior mirror) and an anti-theft system that notifies you when the trailer is disconnected from the pickup truck.
