At the current international motor show in Chengdu (China), the local company GAC Motor held the world premiere of the second-generation GS8 mid-size crossover. Recall that the first photos of the exterior of this car were shown in June, but so far its interior has been kept a secret.

Drome has already given a characteristic to the appearance of the car - with its shaping and sharp edges, it resembles the Cadillacs of the last wave. A few words about the interior - it is made in accordance with the latest trends in the automotive industry: there is a horizontal architecture of the front panel, a digital instrument cluster with a diagonal of 12.3 inches and a huge 14.6-inch touchscreen display of the media system.

The design of the crossover is based on the GPMA (Global Platform Modular Architecture) modular platform of the automaker's own design. The length, width and height of the car are 4980, 1950 and 1780 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 2920 mm.

The second generation GAC GS8 will be produced in parallel in two engine versions: 1) with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo and an 8-speed automatic, 2) with a parallel hybrid system purchased from Toyota Motor. The gasoline-electric Toyota Hybrid System of the GAC GS8 is built around a 2.0-liter turbo engine. The use of the Toyota system is legal, because since 2004 GAC has been one of the industrial partners of Toyota Motor in China.

In the petrol version, the engine develops 252 hp. power and 400 Nm of torque. It is combined with an eight-speed Aisin hydromechanical automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

The hybrid car is equipped with a 190-horsepower internal combustion engine, an electromechanical variator and all-wheel drive.

Outside, pure petrol and hybrid modifications can be distinguished by the design of the front - the GS8 Hybrid has a disproportionately large grille.
